Who Is Eligible to Become a CTFCU Member?

The short answer is ... everyone! There are many paths to membership and if you're ready to join, we're ready to welcome you. If you're unsure about your eligibility, stop by your local branch or call 1-800-622-5305 to discuss which membership path is right for you.


Underserved Areas

Combined geographic areas possessing a smaller concentration of financial institutions, not currently offering banking services which meet the economic needs of a majority of residents. Any person who lives, works, worships, or attends school within an underserved zip code can join CTFCU.


Select Employer Groups (S.E.G)

Includes companies from any industry, who have signed an agreement to allow their workers to join CTFCU. Anyone currently employed with a S.E.G. can become a member of the credit union. All interested businesses within CTFCU’s service areas are encouraged to become a S.E.G. partner of the credit union.



Under a Multiple Common Bond charter, credit unions can offer membership to individuals who are also mutual members of an association or cooperative. CTFCU has partnered with various organizations throughout the Carolinas and can now offer membership to persons affiliated with these groups.


Referral from a Current CTFCU Member

When referred by a current CTFCU member, immediate family, household members, friends, and co-workers can qualify for new membership. Were you referred by a current CTFCU member? If so, they may be eligible for our $25 Member Referral*! When the new member opens their account, complete and return the Printable Referral Form to us.

Ready to Join?

You must be at least 13 years old to join online. If you are under 13, visit a branch or call us at 1-800-622-5305, with your parent's or guardian's permission.

Copy of Driver’s License is required. Please provide your current physical STREET Address for verification purposes.

To fund your account's initial $5.00 deposit, provide your credit card or bank account and routing number in the application. The account's initial $5.00 deposit to open a Prime Share Savings Account is required to maintain your membership. In addition to electronic signing, one of our team members will contact you within 1 business day to finalize any details needed to complete your membership application.
