Beginning July 15, many families will receive half the total Child Tax Credit as an advance this summer. Families will claim the other half of the credit when they file their 2021 tax returns. This means that households will be receiving this credit over the next few weeks either by direct deposit or by mail.
Advance Child Tax Credit Payments received via ACH at CTFCU will be treated like any Federal ACH Payment. We will legally post any ACH payments we can. It is important to note there are situations where we legally cannot accept the funds, such as:
- We cannot accept funds sent by the IRS that include a portion for a deceased person. (With ACH transactions, we can accept all or decline all of the funds going to a member.)
- We cannot accept a portion of the transaction and send the remainder back to the IRS.
- We cannot accept the ACH transaction if funds received from the IRS include a portion for a family member who is not joint on your account.
- We cannot accept the funds if the member number account type provided on the transaction does not reflect our system or if the account is closed.
